2009 In Review

It is safe to say, 2009 was a rough year for most people throughout the nation and world. The economy was in a severe recession, jobs were lost and businesses closed their doors. Homes were foreclosed and budgets were cut. Political and social battles entangled both the United States and world in deep trenches of fear and hate. Lives were lost, wars raged and terrorism threatened many people.

Yet, 2009 was a great year. We learned to appreciate the things we have; people started enjoying the small things, such as home-cooked meals and time spent with loved ones. 2009 showed us that though life can sometimes be tough, it still goes on; babies are still born, children still grow and the light of faith and hard work still overpowers darkness.

2009 was a great year. Here are some highlights:

  • Jordan went back to school; I did not. I am still searching for my "dream" job!
  • We moved to a bigger apartment.
  • Spent a week in Reno cheering on our Aggies at the WAC Tournament in Reno with Jay and Joan.
      • Spent a rainy Memorial Day weekend at Lava. It's good to know our tent is waterproof!
      • Jordan studied for and took the DAT; we spent countless hours filling out applications.
      • Took a road trip to Jackson Hole with Joell, Ellie and Hudson to spend a fun week with Jay and Joan.
      • Toured San Francisco with Mom, Whitney and Granda Allen.
      • Jordan's intramural soccer team won the championship.
      • Rafted the Snake River with Jordan.
      • Had a summer full of softball.
      • We camped with the Shaffer's at Lava for July 4th and floated the Portneuf River. Watched the awesome Lava fireworks.
      • We went to Atlantis for a day.
      • Jordan and I celebrated our first anniversary.
      • Jordan shot a pheasant...my dad had to "help" him clean it. We made some delicious pheasant stir fry.
      • Cruised to the Bahamas with the Shaffers and spent a fun week in the sun.
